Senior Instructor Douglas Kyosanim

Senior Instructor Douglas Graham Kyosanim is a 3rd Dan black belt and newly appointed Kyosanim. He has been training in hapkido at WMAC since 2007, and teaching since 2010. Douglas retired from a career of teaching and administration in high schools within the NYC Department of Education. He believes that individuals learn in many different ways, and that a good instructor adapts his teaching style to the learning style of the student. He believes that a well grounded practice of martial arts is a lifelong learning commitment that helps to keep one physically and mentally fit. He also believes that these qualities are essential for a safe life in our constantly changing world. He enjoys teaching at WMAC because of the outstanding leadership from Sabumnim and the wonderful ethnic mix of students and instructors at the school. Some of his favorite aspects of training are the many weapon techniques and the multitude of Hapkido forms.
