For most of us, the holiday season is a time of much joy. There are many however, who do not have the privileges that we do and this blog post is to invite students to join in one of these events and to salute the two students who are spear-heading the World Martial Arts Center demos coming up this week.
Susan F, a 10+year veteran bodan at WMAC is organizing one special team to appear this Saturday afternoon December 4th at the Brooklyn Friends School's Winter Festival where the proceeds will benefit academic enrichment programs for local Brooklyn public school children.
Next Wednesday evening, December 8th, Black Belt instructor Kimberly L organizes another group of warriors for CACF, NY's only advocacy group that aims to improve the health and well-being of Asian youth, focusing especially on the children of immigrants who struggle with poverty and lack of resources.
We invite students of all ranks to contribute to one of these teams, either by performing or handing out flyers. For the upper ranks (black belts and reds), this is of course a chance to support the school, your fellow high ranks, to contribute to the greater good of the community and to stay active in field duty hours.
